Child-first. We design for children’s wellbeing, curiosity, and safety above everything else.
Kindness & respect. Every interaction - comments, messages and collaborations - should be gentle and constructive.
Learning through play. We favour clarity, plain language, and joyful design over complexity.
Inclusion by default. We welcome families of all backgrounds and abilities and reflect that in our content.
Transparency. We’re open about how we make things, where assets come from, and how we moderate.
Guiding principles We aim to minimise waste and choose materials and partners that are kinder to people and the planet.
Bubble Buddies Bay is made for children ages 3–8.
Ages 3–5: explore together with a grown-up (co-browsing recommended).
Ages 6–8: ready for independent browsing, with a quick check from a grown-up for links or downloads.
Do:
Be friendly and use encouraging language.
Credit creators when you share our downloadable materials (see “How We Make Things”).
Keep children’s personal details private (no surnames, addresses, schools, or contact info).
Ask questions and report concerns: mistakes happen and we will fix them.
Don’t:
Bully, shame, or exclude anyone.
Post hateful, sexual, or violent content (including “jokey” references).
Share personal data about a child or another family.
Spam, self-promote aggressively, or mislead others.
We moderate for safety and tone. Repeated breaches may lead to content removal or account restrictions.
Originality. Most of our words, activities, and illustrations are original.
Licenced assets. When we use third-party icons, photos, fonts, or sounds, they are licenced. We keep records and list credits where required.
Credits. We credit external assets in a clear “Credits” line (e.g., “Icons by [Library], Font: [Family] licence”). If you believe your work has been used in error, email info@bubblebuddiesbay.com for prompt review and removal if needed.
Age-appropriate design. No frightening or mature themes; we use gentle motion and simple shapes/words.
Inclusive representation. We avoid stereotypes and aim for positive, diverse representation across culture, family structure, disability, and gender.
Downloads & printables. Free for personal use (teachers and carers may use in groups). Please don’t resell or re-host without written permission.
Original characters: The Bubble Buddies and their settings are created by the team and illustrated by Tamsin Baker. Please don’t copy, trace, or imitate the characters’ look without permission.
Real-world photos (Blog, Bubblepedia, other pages) When we show the real world, we use authentic photos taken by our team or licenced from reputable libraries. We do basic edits (crop, exposure) but no manipulations that change reality.
AI-generated illustrations
We sometimes use industry-standard generative tools to create imaginative, unreal pictures (e.g., whimsical scenes for Splash and Guess); final choice and editing are done by our team.
We will never use AI to fabricate news, imitate real people, imitate living artists’ distinctive styles, or depict real-world events.
We avoid photorealistic styles when the goal is storytelling or fantasy.
When an AI image could be confused for real life, we add a short note like “AI-generated illustration.”
Why we don’t list specific tools everywhere
Tool choices evolve, and naming them per image can confuse readers. We keep detailed internal records (tool, prompt, date)
How to tell at a glance (site-wide convention)
Photo: real image of the world.
Character Illustration: original artwork by Tamsin Baker.
Illustration: artwork created by the team, sometimes using Character Illustrations as well.
Infographic: team-made diagram and posters.
Colouring books: team-made with support of AI in some cases.
AI illustration: imaginative, not real life.
(We follow these categories across the site so you don’t have to look for extra labels on every image.)
Team writing: Most text is written/edited by our in-house team.
Guest contributors: Bylined and introduced; we edit for clarity, tone, and safety.
Quotations: Marked with quotation marks and attribution; long quotes are trimmed.
AI assistance: We sometimes use AI for brainstorming or first drafts, but a human writes/edits every piece you read. We don’t use AI to invent real events, impersonate real people, or create fake reviews.
Editorial Standards (Plain English)
Age-appropriate: We use simple language, short sentences, and a kind, encouraging tone.
Clarity first: We avoid jargon; if we must use a big word, we explain it.
Sensitivity: We avoid stereotypes and negative labels; we default to person-first or identity-affirming language, depending on community preference.
No scary surprises: Tough topics (if any) include a gentle heads-up for carers.
It's not advice that replaces a professional: our content is for information and fun. It is not medical, legal, or professional advice.
Fact-Checking & Sources: We check dates, names, and facts against reputable sources and with the HCMR team.
Corrections policy: Spotted an error? Email info@bubblebuddiesbay.com with a link/screenshot. We aim to acknowledge in 24–48 hours and fix within 7 days.
Kids’ submissions (stories, jokes, names) are published with parent/carer permission and first names or pen names only.
We may lightly edit for spelling/clarity while preserving the child’s voice.
